An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, police said.
An Army spokesman said the contact with militants was established during a joint operation of the Indian Army and the J&K Police in general area Mulkhyama Forest, Bandipore. The operation was started on April 21.
A firefight started in the early hours of Wednesday “after the hiding militants opened fire at them”. “The operation is in progress,” the Army said.
Two Army soldiers sustained injuries in the initial exchange of fire and their condition is stated to be stable.
Security forces have not disclosed the number of militants hiding in the area.
A search operation is underway.
